Efficient Bpe Compression?

    I'm working on several compression techniques, and some of them could benefit from BPE. I'm using 2-byte LZ77 sequences as BPE but think the intended tokenization method will be better. Now, I don't want to make several extra scans of the data and collect every possible token and count occurrences. Is there a better, more efficient way to do this?
