Error mess on boot ("0164 memory size error"). Mem was removed at one point then replaced (with same mem mod). Computer was working fine before mem was removed. IBM Netvista PC 8315-42U, OS XP Pro. Memory works fine in other computer. Any thoughts.:confused

Does it read the RAM ok in BIOS?

I'm not sure from your post - was the memory stick exactly the same as the one that was removed? Size, make, etc.?

Thanks 4 responding. yes it is the exact stick i removed that went back in. anyway this story has a happy ending cause i disconnected all cables in and out fired up the compressor, blew all the dust n cat hair, reset the bios on mobo, reconnected cables and it booted right up without any problems. so thx again 4 taking time to help. i do have another issue with a new hp with vista but i'll post it on differnt thread. take care.
