This morning I turned on the computer as usual, I started my daily routine of turning on MSN Messanger, and opening iTunes. Right away both programs gave me a, '0xc0000022 failed to initialize' error.

That's when I got slightly irritated. And decided to do a google search, Alas, Explorer, Firefox, AND Google chrome, didn't work. Then it occured to me it could be spyware, but, nothing will open at all.

So pretty much, nothing will open on my computer, everything gets this error.

I have admin access on all acounts I tried to acces these apps.

Help is very much appreciated, thanks in advance :(
And sorry if this is in the wrong place, I wasn't quite sure where to put it.

Edit: I'm not sure if this is the only problem within my system right now, considering I can't run any form of scans.

Windows cannot open the specific device, path, or file.

When I start up my computer I cannot access anything, When I click on anything I get a message "Windows cannot open specific device, path, or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access item." I cannot get on the net, I can't open run. When I click on run, it asked me if I wanted to make a shortcut. I can access e pretty much anything in Safe mode, but everything I do there doesn't work in normal mode. I am running Windows XP.
    Help please.

    :cry:cry

    Try System Restore from yesterday.
Here's how to do it from a safe mode command prompt.
To start System Restore using the Command prompt, follow these steps:
    1. Restart your computer, and then press and hold F8 during the initial startup to start your computer in safe mode with a Command prompt.
    2. Use the arrow keys to select the Safe mode with a Command prompt option.
    3. If you are prompted to select an operating system, use the arrow keys to select the appropriate operating system for your computer, and then press ENTER.
    4. Log on as an administrator or with an account that has administrator credentials.
    5. At the command prompt, type %systemroot%\system32\restore\rstrui.exe, and then press ENTER.
    6. Follow the instructions that appear on the screen to restore your computer to a functional state.

Hopefully plodr's advice will fix this!:wave
    Whether it does or not, your 'puter has symptoms of infection. I'd also recommend a trip to the Malware Removal forums and a run through of the READ AND RUN ME FIRST routine, link below;

Most of the computers I work on that have infections exhibit remarkably different behavior in safe vs. normal modes. The earlier you fix this, the greater your chances of success are.:):)

I cannot access anything in normal mode. Will this work in Safe mode?

    Hi

Both options given above should be fine in Safe Mode, Malware guide was constructed to allow many if not all the apps suggested in it, to be able to run in Safe Mode if Normal Mode didnt work.

Just remember to start a new thread in the malware forum and link to this one as background info as well as posting about your issues again as well as attaching the logs requested in that new thread (how to attach logs is mentioned in the guide)
