i spent (wasted) money on Acronis TrueImage (sigh) & have gotten myself into a real "FUBAR" (;)) by trying to use their SecureZone feature to set up space on my external drive to test software, especially freeware, to make sure it wouldn't gum up my works before i actually installed it on my main drive.

well, apparently i didn't read the instructions/help files "well" enough & now i've got half my 500gb sitting there, formatted & unallocated, and no idea how to get it back.

i could, if i have to, move everything to my main drive, do whatever to the external drive, but it wasn't broke when i tried to "fix" it & i'm leery of trying to "fix" it again, on my own, since i decided to play "Microsoft/Yahoo" with it.

i know there's a way to get my "space" back, i just need to know exactly what to do so i don't "fix" it worse than it already is. i tried an older version of Norton's Partition Magic (had it for years then decided to "upgrade" to Acronis) but all it will do it merge the partitions & delete everything.

i guess i'd rather NOT move all my data to my main drive (but will if needed) which is why i'm here trying to find out for certain.

oh, external drive is a Western Digital 500gb, with software on it that i haven't looked at/tried to use (setup, MemSync, MemBackup, Diagnotics, etc.).

    thanks,

Honestly I would try contacting Acronis support because they are actually really good from my past experiences. Acronis is a great company with great products.

Really though take some responsibility for your own mistakes that sarcasm is unnecessary .

I will pass that along to my Acronis rep. and see what he has to say and will let you know. There is definitely a solution as you said and I will try to help you out :)

thanks for the info! i think i may have been too harsh about Acronis; the fault was all mine, although contacting them makes sense. however, i think the software did what it was supposed to do, i just didn't understand what I was doing. i may try contacting WD about the items that came on the hd, too.

    thanks,
