    Hello,

This may have been covered already & I apologize for the possible repeat.

I understand that we only want to run only one A.V. Program & only one software based Firewall.

Does S&D Spybot count as an AV program. Can they both be installed & running on the same computer?

    Thanks.

No. Spybot is an Antispyware app. It is fine with an AV and Firewall. Just make sure that if you have their Teatimer enabled, which is their realtime (not a scanner) protection, that you are only using that for spyware. You can have as many scanners on your computer as you want.

Yes, they can. On my XP system I have a firewall, AV, and Spybot, and on the Vista system an AV and Spybot, plus the Vista firewall.

Also if your AV has active spyware protection you can still use Spybot, especially for scan purposes, and for preventing browser hijacking. Regardless though, you should always disable Spybot's teatimer. If nothing else, it's a humongous resource hog.
