I know electrical as far as houses go and was wondering if I hooked another mobo power plug in parallel would one power supply work on two mobo,s. The units are only used for Folding that's the only reason they are on.

    Nope, fraid that wouldn't work.

You'd need to have one PSU per mobo.

Looks like I gotta plug PC Utilities again. If you have access to PC Utilities, a UK computer magazine, edition 45, it has an article splicing a second Power Supply into a PC. (page 49). May help you, being a sparky and all. Back Issues are obtainable from iain.anderson@livepublishing.co.uk. He is subscriptions and marketing manager. Please note the spelling of Iain, not IAN. Iain is the Scottish spelling.

PCUtilities is distributed here in Cairns, Australia and I occasionally buy a copy. The Australian distributors sometimes release a bundle of 3 old issues, and CD's, for a little more than the price of the latest issue. Just bought the latest bundle yesterday and hopefully have been able to help 2 MG'ers already. Bazza

PC Utilities is a good mag :) CDs come packed with useful programs.

But bazza, you seem to have misunderstood, he wants to run 2 PC's with 1 PSU. Most often 2 PSUs are spliced together with larger setups that run heavy duty graphics cards, sound cards, and other high wattage periphrials.

Thanks Goldy, I know he wants to run 2PC's (mobo's), from 1 PSU, but thought this may help
by giving an alternate idea to stir up the grey brain matter. Baz

Please explain to us unknowledgeable lot, what "Folding" is. It all helps to expand our knowledge. Are the 2 mobos set up in a custom PC layout? Any photos of the setup? Bazza

Have you ever heard of Seti? Folding is a cumulative computing effort out of Stanford U. Its my computer and yours if you want analyzing protiens. Protiens are the building blocks of life and when they come together correctly all is well and new borns are fine and old people don't forget etc... When they don't come together right babies are born with defects and illnesses throughout the spectrum become prevelent. What Stanford is doing is watching and analyzing protiens so that they can figure out how to fix one that goes awry.
Folding just requires that you download a small program that will run the protiens that Stanford sends you. Every day or three depending on the speed of your computer you'll send your protien back to Stanford and they will send you another to do.

http://www.majorgeeks.com/page.php?id=9 go here and if you have any questions go down to the bottom of the forums and look for Folding
