I know it can be done, just dont know what to do...

    I have WinXP Pro.

How do i change my HDD's encryption from default 128 bit to 512 bit?

I believe there are some command lines for this?

To enable the 3DES algorithm in Windows XP, http://www.microsoft.com/technet/prodtechnol/winxppro/deploy/cryptfs.mspxabout 2/3's down the page. However I don't recomment the use of EFS and stand alone PC's. If for some reason your OS becomes corrupt you will not be able to open those encrypted files. Its best employed in Domain enviroments where Recovery Agents and Certs are issued & backed up. There have been may visitors to MajorGeeks seeking ways to recover years worth of lost data.

you can't use 512 bit key with 3DES, the max length of key is 168 bit. why do you want to use 512? it will decrease the speed very much and 128 bit encryprtion os good enough for block ciphers. so i don't even recomend increase the length up to 168.
