i run a dell dimension 4600 cpu and windows xp home w/ sp2.

    cpu is a p4 2600
    512 mb ram
128 geforce fx 5200 vid card
derno motherboard or sound (but have latest updates from dell site for them both) chipset is up to date. anyways on the driver cd when i tried to install my drivers for video card after i reset computer it said nv4_disp error infinite loop. so i went to nvidiea.com and installed there latest drivers for vid card which solved the loop problem. however after that i scanned for updates and once again after resetting i got the inifinte loop problem. so i went to the original drivers from nvidia.com un-updated

71.8_win2kxp_english was the nvidia driver package i downloaded. anyways i installed then after warcraft 3 and the expansion. but the game freezes every few seconds for around 10 seconds. (i turnned off AGP text and windows firewall) still had all these problems after re-installing the drivers. then just now i tried installin World of Warcraft and i keep getting errors. (possibly same thing) anyways point is im looking for a solution to getting the current drivers i have to run wc3/wow properly or im lookin for entirely new drivers if thats indeed the problem so my system will run properly. everything worked just fine before the re-format in terms of games listed etc.

thx any and all help is greatly appreciated.

this infinite loop business can be very very annoying, i used to have it all the time. in the end it turned out that there was a problem with my ram, i think, anyways what counts is that i got rid of it... there are many many reasons why u get this error and some dont even have anything to do with ur graphics...i sugges u go back to ur original drivers when u didnt have any problems. if thats not a possibility i think u should use Driver Cleaner and clean up all residuals of the drivers and make a clean driver install. always uninstall ur old drivers and use Driver Cleaner before updating.
also make sure that ur ram is ok.. test it using Prime 95, run it for at least 2-5 hours! faulty ram can cause loads of different bluescreen error messages (BSOD) including the infinite loop one
