16 bit Windows Subsystem problem

I've received the following error:

16 bit Windows Subsystem

C:\DOCUME~1\Owner\LOCALS~1\Temp\. A temporary file needed for initialization could not be created or could not be written to. Make sure that the directory path exists, and disk space is available. Choose 'Close' to terminate the application.

----I am attempting to add a printer, namely Lexmark X6100 (6170 Series) via the CD-ROM received with the printer. However, the above error appears after I select the 'Install' button.


Please help me.....I have attempted to remove problems via google, spybot, ad-aware, cwshredder and many more.

hey thanks for follow-up information.

However, it just didn't work....It actually produced the exact same error box re:16 bit Windows Subsystem problem. I used ccleaner and i went to the lexmark site and dl driver to no avail.Please advise further...i should havd indicated previously that this printer was already on my computer for about 3 years and there was a problem with its printing, therefore, i figured i would remove via add/remove program and reinstall it. But, the aforementioned problem began. I hope that helps this problem because it sucks.:major
