Hi. I have read the posts on this problem, but I can't seem to get rid of it! 180loader.exe keeps trying to access the internet, but my security program keeps stopping it. I have run ad-aware, spybot s&D, but it still keeps popping up. I find the file, but it will not let me delete it from my hard drive.

Here is a copy of my hijack this log. I would appreciate anyone taking a look at it and helping me get rid of this pest (and anything else I don't need)! THANK you so much!

Ok...the 180 loader seems to be gone, but now I have an even more annoying problem. I cannot get rid of PROSEARCHING. I have deleted every sign of it I can find, I run hijack this, delete it from there, load up my browser and it pops back up again and loads it back into hijack this!!

I do not see it in my add/delete programs list, I keep searching the computer and deleting any file with this name attached to it, but it keeps loading up. Any help with this little gem will be extremely appreciated!

Ok fellas....I really appreciate the help! However, I still have not had success eradicating this pest from my computer. I clean the prosearching line item from hijack this and it comes right back! I have cleaned the files general lee stoned recommended...they appear to have stayed out of hijack this, but I am still having trouble with prosearching.

I have run spybot, hijack this, a deep cleaning of ad-aware, all to no avail. I have run a virus check with trend housecall...nothing there. I downloaded the trial version of Pest Patrol....it found a bunch of stuff, but I have to buy their product to get rid of what it found...besides, I didn't see prosearch in the list of stuff found anyway!

I am unsure of how to to the reg edits to get rid of the .dll files mentioned below. I've never made backups and etc. like it says...help in this area would be appreciate as well!

Below is the latest hijack this log...anything else I need to clean off? HELP!

Thanks SO much....I'm glad that you have chosen to use your powers for good rather than evil!!

    prosearching is driving me NUTS!!!

I appreciate ALL of the help; however, I am still not having any luck getting rid of this #$(*$#&* PROSEARCHING THING!!! I have run ad-aware, cwshredder, and spybot s&d and have removed EVERYTHING that it shows. I have run hijack this and removed all references to prosearching; I have run a search on the computer and deleted every file that has prosearch in it; I have turned off system restore, rebooted the computer, and the thing STILL loads up! I can remove it from hijack this, load Internet Explorer, it will pop up, and then add a line item BACK into hijack this!

I don't know anything about regedit...so if it's lurking there I will need some major geek help to get rid of it!

Please....any help will be appreciated. I'm about to take a hammer to my computer I'm so frustrted! THANKS TO EVERYONE WHO HAS OR WILL HELP!

Here is my current hijack this log....after I've done all of the above.

The only thing obvious is that you do not know what you are talking about. All three items you named are required Windows System processes. When running from a different incorrect directory then there could be a problem.

    lsass - lsass.exe - Process Information

    Process File: lsass or lsass.exe
Process Name: Local Security Authority Service

Description: Windows Local Security Authority Server Process handles Windows security mechanisms. It verifies the validity of user logons to your computer or server. Technically, the software generates the process that is responsible for authenticating users for the Winlogon service.
    Company: Microsoft Corp.
    System Process: Yes
    Security Risk ( Virus/Trojan/Worm/Adware/Spyware ): No

    smss - smss.exe - Process Information

    Process File: smss or smss.exe
    Process Name: Session Manager Subsystem

Description: Application that is used to start, manage, and delete user sessions or client sessions under Terminal Server.
    Company: Microsoft Corp.
    System Process: Yes
    Security Risk ( Virus/Trojan/Worm/Adware/Spyware ): No

svchost - svchost.exe - Process InformationProcess File: svchost or svchost.exe
    Process Name: Service Host Process

Description: Application that works as a host process for services that run from dynamic link libraries.
    Company: Microsoft Corp.
    System Process: Yes
    Security Risk ( Virus/Trojan/Worm/Adware/Spyware ): No

    Common Errors: N/A

I do not see a Prosearching line in your HijackThis log. Did you delete it before posting?

See if there is a Control Panel, Add/Remove programs entry for Clock Sync. If so, uninstall it. Otherwise do as indicated below and include the Clock Sync lines:

Shut down all application especially IE and have HijackThis fix:
    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [LOAD BEEP] C:\PROGRA~1\LOUDKN~1\upload vga.exe
    O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [ClockSync] "C:\Program Files\ClockSync\Sync.exe" /q

Then boot into safe mode: http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT/tsgeninfo.nsf/docid/2001052409420406?OpenDocument&src=sec_doc_nam

    and delete the below:

    C:\PROGRA~1\LOUDKN~1\upload vga.exe <--- this file
    C:\Program Files\ClockSync <---- the whole directory

I would suggest YOU are the one who doesn't know what he is talking about.
None of these files show anywhere in MSDN, but Symantec, McAfee and Trend all mention them attached to multiple worms. We just fixed a computer by removing these from the registry then deleting the 180loader file. There is a way the registry reference to them can be redirected in Wininit to a file of totally different name.
But this isn't solving this poor guy's problems so I will butt out!!

They are all standard Windows Processes look at any WinXP system that is running and you always see all three of them. Also look at your Windows XP (or 2K) CD and you will see all three of them in your \i386 directory. On the CD they are compressed so the are .EX_ instead of .EXE.

If you new how to read properly, you would see that all of these files are running in their correct directory (which is \windows\system32). And what you are trying to quote are problems that only exist if they run from some place else like I stated in my previous message. For example on Symantec you may find a reference like:
    %windir%\Smss.exe
That is equivalent to c:\windows\smss.exe not c:\windows\system32.exe
