1core vs. 2cores

I am building a new (rig)computer i am not sher if i should go hyper threading signal core or dual core cpu help me out.

 

Whatt're ya going to use it for?

 

Internet,gaming,audio & Video Conversion.

 

This is what I would use a dual-core for. Video transcorder apps are often designed to use 100% of your CPU time while processing, and it is nice to be able to switch it to another core (actually, the right apps are multicore aware - ie DVDShrink), so you can still use the computer in the meantime.

 

core 2 duo will be your best bet then

well intell has a new cpu out that is a quad core processer and it ranges from 1500 to 1900 dollars

 

I've seen it selling for $300 and change. CDN.

just so you know i am not a man with a lot of money.

 

I just recently upgraded to an AMD X2 3800+ and the difference is amazing when transcoding video! The CPU was only $70, I grabbed it as I doubt it would get cheaper before disappearing of the shelf.
