I still get "A network cable is unplugged". I'm trying to get both computers to play games on LAN. What's wrong?

I agree. Try replacing the nic, and see if you have the same problem. Or test the nic by plugging BOTH nics into a hub/switch with are regular cable (that way your testing both). Otherwise, it's your crossover cable.

yeah id say he was right, are you 100% sure its the right cable?

did you make it yourself? if so check those connectors! it only takes one wire to be slightly missaligned and its fubared

if you bought it then id suggest taking it back for em to check its ok.

Common problems with home made network cable :

    • RJ-45 connectors arn't for the correct wire type (stranded/solid) therefore you get a bad connection.
    • Wires not crimped hard enough.
    • Wires are shorting somewhere.
