When a PC can take up to 2 Gbs of RAM does that mean 4 512 Mb sticks? That comes to more than 2 Gbs.

2 gigs = 2048mb. Check your mobo manual and it should give you the max RAM per slot. some take a max of 2 gigs but only 512 per slot (if you have 4 slots) but some with 4 slots may also be able to take up to 2 gigs but also 1 gig per slot. (hope im making sense here) It usually differs with motherboards so consult the manual to make sure.
