I have a windows vista ultimate edition toshiba laptop, and i have two problems i need help fixing. the first one just started like yesterday when i was getting help from chaslang to solve some malware problems, the second is the problem i posted about in the first place that was not resolved by removing the malware.

    1. Whenever i right click on a file torrent and click "open containing folder" i get a command prompt that pops up for a few seconds and then a window that pops up and says "NTVDM.exe has stopped working" and this is what it says for more info

    2. my computer restarts every 2 hours give or take a few seconds, without fail. it has been doing this for almost 2 months, and i just now have time to try and solve it, however i cant seam to figure anything out, so i am here asking for someone to help me figure out what the problem is. I looked into the event viewer and the only thing i see from the times it restarts is this log:

Event 6008: The previous system shutdown at 12:30:27 AM on 8/5/2008 was unexpected.

ill do whatever it takes to stop these problems, but im really hoping it doesnt turn to reformatting.

    1. ntdvm.exe can be ended if you open task manager; or if it is loing at startup, you can stop it in msconfig.
If you want to know what is using it and if it needs to start up, install process explorer
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/bb896653.aspx
the right click ntvdm and select properties.

    2. As far as the restart, switch from reboot on error to giving you a BSOD. That way, it will narrow down what might be causing the reboot.

It's ok, now that I got rid of all the malware on here, instead of continueing with problems, I did a Vista repair/upgrade install so that i have no problems and pretty much a new copy of windows without the reformat. Thanks for the help though.
