2 questions wmp/browser

1.im running 2000 and everytime i download the newest version of wmp 9 i think it works and then a day later it wont open at all or do anything. a bug? a good alternative player?

2. ive got a browser virus or something. evertime i open my browser it opens weird task bars ****ed up all my favorites and a ton of pop ups after ive done battle for a good 5 mins i can go see some sites. i even tried avant browser just lags more. wipe explorer clean?
