When I purchased my new computer - of course windows xp crashed. I called Dell (waste of time) and they walked me through installing the software again. Somehow, I have 2 Windows XP software running on my computer. At start up I have to hit enter to click on which one I want to use. Isn't this taking up a lot of space on my computer? What can I do? Please help!

    Welcome to MajorGeeks!

We would like to know what you have within your boot.ini file.

Click START, then RUN, then type in the following: notepad c:\boot.ini (press ENTER)

Now copy and paste this info here:

I am going to guess on this one that the user attempted to do a "Fresh" install of a WinXP non-OEM version on the Dell machine, which already had OEM XP Home.

And yes it does take up space, if you want to not have both OS's on the machine. If the XP Pro has never been used on another machine, and is capable of loading the drivers and all for the machine, then keep it, and delete the partitions and reload the XP Pro if you want that version.
