2 wired routers in series

I know this can be done. I have done it before. I have one router now, I want to run another router to my kids computers in their bedrooms. I am running a cat 5 from port 4 on my router to the uplink on the new router. I then skipped port one and ran a cable to my daughters tower, all seems fine though it isn't. Can't connect to the internet. I also can't see the new router from any computer. What am I missing? I think I have to disable DHCP but I can't even access the router.

Curious, or did I misread, could you just go wireless and use a repeater if it is a long distance? I just do'nt see people running cable much these days, maybe you have your reasons, if so, ignore me

M.Attitude, I have a bunch of wired networking related hardware and no wireless so instead of blowing more money I have wires all over the place. LOL You're right though I should go wireless since I currently have 6 towers throughout the house. Oh well, atleast no one messes with "my" stuff.

Wireless has come a long way security wise, of course nothing beats having neighbors and the road 100 feet away. I would prefer wireless nowadays over a wired connection for security. Cant blame you though, your looking at a router, possibly a repeater and 5 wireless cards. For decent brand names, that could top 3 or 400. Thanks for satisfying my curiousity.
