    Hi,

I've got about $200 or so to upgrade my machine. I'm trying to put together a computer that will be able to handle the graphics of Everquest 2. Here are the current specs:

    running Win XP
    AMD Athlon 1800
    Soyo Dragon KT600 MB
    1 gig PC 3200 ram
    ATI Radeon 9000 pro
    60 gb IDE HD

    I've been considering two options:

    Opt #1 - Spend $80 on a ATI Radeon 9600 128MB and $120 on a Athlon 3000 with 400mhz FSB.

    Opt #2 - Spend $200 on a ATI Radeon 9800 Pro 256MB

Which option will get me the most gaming for the buck? Is there something else I'm not considering?

    Thanks for the help.

The 9800Pro would give you the most boost while gaming. :) I would not get the 256MB version. Games today do not benifit from the extra memory. It would just be a waste. I would for a 9800Pro 128MB, card..then save up a few more bucks, and then go for your new processor.
