well here I is again. I did a very dumb thing. I have an IBM Thinkpad that had ME (UGH!) and I wanted to upgrade it to 2000 ...so I installed it as an upgrade, downloaded the new video and sound drivers for 2000 and all that good stuff..but in an attempt to do some clean up on , I deleted the former user info... so when it boots it wants the password of this former user on it. I used to be able to just push enter and it would start fine, but since I deleted their presence so to speak, the computer will not recognize just "ok" and let me in. HOW do I by pass this?

During the upgrade to windows 2000, there should have been a password prompt for the admin account.

If you just pressed next, try the following instead:

    username: administrator
    password: (press enter)

thanks people, I will try first the administrator thingy and if that does not get me in then I will the Boot CD that I made from the site ASUS sent me...something should do it...meanwhile I will store it away as things NOT to do when upgrading a previously used system...
    ;)
