2004- Will be the Biggest year in gaming EVER

I cant remember when this many triple A games were supposed to come out. Maybe 2001, when GT3, MGS2, Devil May Cry, GTA3 and Halo dropped. 2002 was a good year with GTA Vice, Metroid Prime and a few others but it wasnt as good as 2001, and 2003 was decent with a lot of good games but the only real triple A titles that dropped were Zelda and KOTOR. Now on to 2004 and you got a huge list of heavy heavy hitters droppin.

Just those 4 titles by themselves would be enough to say the year is gonna be big, but then you throw in.

GTA (whatever it will be called)

StarCraft Ghost

Im hoping that Fable will be good, but the asterik is next to it cause Im really not sure, even though it will be hyped. It's supposed to come out in June. Then you throw in the usual Madden/Ncaa/ESPN sports titles, and atleast 5 "sleeper" games that pop up and this could be the biggest year of gaming in years.

 

dude, you completely forgot about Call Of Duty, the best WW2 shooter released by far and still my fav game. Though NFS: Underground comes in a close second along with KOTOR

Until I get an upgrade kit / new vid card, each year's just going to get worse... because I can't play any of the awesome games!

u forgot about BC, a sim style game for xbox in which u control a prehistoric clan

u also forgot gamecubes biggest game...the return of final fantasy to nintendo!

 

why can't you play? Get an XBOX. It's cheaper than a new video card.

But all the games I have now are for PC... and getting to use the tv for gaming as much as I use the PC? I don't think the Mrs. would let it happen!

 

Amen - I simply cannot wait for Doom 3, Half Life 2 and Resident Evil 4. Halo 2 and MGS3 leave me a bit cold.
There is only *one* flaw with these 5, 'can you tell what it is yet?'

So far for myself, STALKER is the game I am most excited about. Here are a few others:

Joint Ops from Novalogic, if and only if the Trijicon ACOG is actually in the game now.

Soldner looks interesting.

Xenus looks interesting as well.

Flashpoint 2 possibly.

Of all the big alpha leaks I have tried, STALKER tho wins my vote.

Call Of Duty is by far the best WW2 shooter I think aswell..

I am looking forward to Joint Operations, World of Warcraft, GT4, Rome: Total War all for different systems of course...

 

well that's simple Halo, my birthday's on the 2nd of april

Operation Flashpoint 2,there would be no other game..all would dim in its path..IF it was any good as OFP1 and its expansions. TOTAL OWNAGE.

If they only released OFP2 that alone Would MAKE 2004 a good year.

 

I hear yas. FP 2 could be awesome if:

1: they include decent well made stock mp maps so those of us who want to play, can do just that instead of making maps, or wading thru the nOOb mapmaker from hells offerings.

2: Kegetys hi rez skies, and the high detail weap pack blew BIS` ingame stuff AWAY. I would be surprised if BIS can outdo the mods makers. Not only that, the new mod pack from digitalanvil is amazing. BIS really needs to look at all the best mods, and outdo those.

3: it would be nice if the player could choose what type of missions he wants to do, than be forced to be everything and wear every hat.

 

OFP 1 was all about single player and an awesome blend of an RPG and a FPS.


As far as DETAIL.. I have the GOTY edition.. I maxed everything out at 1024x768 and the screen moved about every 10 sec. Totally swamped. I had never been hooked on a game like this since the origonal DOOM.



See The distance detail I had going there.. I bet it would make the best hardware out there right now break a sweat.

 

you're kidding right? OFP2? man I remember playing OFP1 all day for 3 weeks straight, damn fine game

 

LOL! DUDE! The one part of that game I always liked was where you were left in the woods after everone else left Everon, and you had to get to the "extraction" point where you were captured by the commies then the Freedom Aliance comes and rescues you.

I always run up the hill around the tree behind the BMP and dashed to the jeep and took off down the road(running over patrols LOL!) then after a couple miles took off across the field to the left and bailed out at the edge of the woods and ran into the forest while the HIND chopper made scrap iron out of the jeep!

No wonder it made GOTY!! ( Game Of The Year)

 

Half-Life 2 all the way, baby! I'll follow VALVe all the way.

 

I had the GoTY edition . I ran it all maxed at 1024x768, and it played awesome fast. My Fav sp mission to play was the Battle one where you and your battalion storm down the hill thru some trees, and meet the apposing forces dug in. I loved the how in the GoTY edition the ground isn`t flat but undulates giving the player loads of areas to use for terrain masking.

I played 2wice the the original OFPs campaignes. But after adding in Kegetys hi rez skies, and the high detail weap pack mod, THEN FP really rocked. If you play without the mods, FP just is not the shiz. It would be sad if BIS didn`t deliver better than waht a few mods did with FP, in FP2.

My main beef other than this, is that FP is a mappers game. And it was almost a fulltime job to wade thru all the literal crap maps to find any really good ones. A good mil combat game should come with really good stock maps to get the players in the field, NOT in the gods damned editor. FP still asks the player to wear too many hats IMHO. A great game for sure, but I like something alot more focussed.

Will I get FP 2? Probably. I will go thru the campaignes, and then it will sit there while I wait for some talented mods to put the shine to it... like they have done with the GoTY ed. lol Btw? Apparently the new Marine Assualt pack is a mind blower? Anyone tried it?
