2007 excel running slow

Hi. I have a problem with the new 2007 excel running very slow. The document is only one sheet. It has about 50 lines and 10 rows and a simple formula to add up a row and a column. When I enter an amount it freezes (just excel not the computer) it generally takes about 7 seconds til I can move on. This was an 2003 file originally and I have converted it to 2007. It used to have conditional formatting on all rows, I took this out hoping it would speed it up but it hasn't.

I dont think it is the computer because I can continue to use other programs while Im waiting. Is it that 2007 is just more power hungry? Thank you

 

This sounds abnormal. I have Office 2007 installed on my Compaq notebook PC with Win Vista Home Premium and haven't noticed that kind of sluggish response with Excel. Still, posting your computer specs might be helpful.

Just in case that particular file has some glitch in it, how difficult would it be to re-create it in a new/blank Excel file? Perhaps you could copy and paste various parts of your current file to the new one.

 

Thanks, i will try creating a new one. Put the specs in my signature but they are not showing. Here they are:

AMD Athlon XP 1700, 500MB Ram, 40GB HD, OS: XP

 

Thank usafveteran, did what you said, have recreated the file again exactly the same and copied and pasted info in and its much faster, and two thirds smaller file as well.
