    Hi eveyone,

I'm using an emachines M2105 laptop, MSXP SP2, with Intel Celeron 2.8GHz, 256MB RAM, 40 GB hard drive, and 82852/82855 GM/GME Graphics Controller.

When looking at the system properites in my control panel the RAM is reported as 224MB. CCleaner is reporting 223 MB Ram.

I was just wondering why this is? Is it possible other components of the pc are using a portion of RAM. Could it possibly be a bug in the system? Is this something I should be concerned about and need to fix. How would this effect an upgrade to 512 MB RAM?

I have pretty much ruled out any viruses and or spyware as the cause since my antivrus and spyware softaware is updated and run almost daily.

Any information and or solutions are appreciated.

    Thank you in advance.

Your video card is probably using the other 32 mb, If your video adapter is onboard and not AGP or PCI, just my 2 ¢

Similar things happen to me. I have 768MB of physical memory but it only shows 766MB. Perhaps some of it is bad. Cheap memory? I have been trying to figure it out as well

Thanks for the suggestion Bear Nunya.

Is there a way to check and see what video card/adapter is on my computer, and to see how much RAM it is using? Also, is it possible to change the amount of the computers RAM the video adapter uses while still allowing the computer to operate correctly?

    my guess as well

cobra - you probably have like 2mb shared with video card. look in bios, under 'integrated peripherals' or 'onboard functions' (depending on bios) you should find this setting. I suggest you raise the shared memory since you have quite a lot to take from.
