Running Win. 10 on a Dell laptop that is just under 2 years old - still under warranty. 2.7GHz, memory 16 GB
I noticed the other day that everything was running very, very slow including web pages. Sound from speakers is very staticky. At first when I saw the battery was very low but not charging, and plugged in, that the cable is bad. GeekSquad said "it looks like the hard drive is going".
Ran Malwarebytes and found a bunch of errors and they were quaranteed. Ran Win Defend. and found nothing.
Rebooted after Malwarebytes and Windef.- no change - still slow.
    Last Windows update was 5/13/2017
Could it be I have something buried deep in the my system that is hard to route out?
Tried to revert back to an earlier time but the system said it was not able to revert because my PC was upgraded more than 10 days ago.
It was recommended from Costco concierge, where I bought the computer, that I reinstall Wind. 10 as they could not think of anything else to do.
In case it matters I have McAfee was installed when I bought the computer.

If it is still under warranty then the seller must fix it for free including anything needed like a new charger adapter cable and hard drive.

If that system is still under warranty - which you say it is - then it doesn't matter what the model is as you risk voiding the warranty trying to fix it yourself.

I would either do a Reinstall or Reset of Win 10 to see if the problem is fixed if you want to try something first

    Welcome to Major Geeks

However, please don't give advice to someone that may cause their warranty to be voided. The OP still needs to come back to the thread first.
You should have read the initial responses first given otherwise you risk causing problems to the Original Poster.
    Thanks.

I apologize. I have never heard of reinstalling windows or resetting it to cause any warranty issues?

What use would a reset or reinstall of a software Operating System be to problems that the OP has clearly identified as hardware (adapter cord battery and Hard Drive) issues?
None. The problems would have to be OS software issues for that suggestion to help.
The OP hasn't yet bothered to come back but they did say the system is under warranty.

Even though I had gone to Geek Squad and said my cable was okay and said my computer was so slow that it had to have sort of virus or that the hard drive was going. Got the computer back from Dell and all it needed was a new cable. Now I have the big hassle of loading everything. Wife is pissed because we were given Office 2016 when we had a problem a few years ago. It was loaded onto our computer remotely and I copied the key, but the key is now no longer valid, so we were left to dust off Office 2010 and reinstall.

It's strange that if the only actual problem was the adapter cable you are suggesting that Dell wiped your system requiring you to reinstall windows. Even though you dont say that specifically that's what your post implied.
As far as MS Office 2016 is concerned (which is only 2 years old from its release data) I'm amazed if anyone was just 'given' it. If so you had a product key and that doesn't just expire. So maybe talk to Microsoft Help about that.

It was suggested by Dell I reset to factory settings, so I should back up my data, which I did. If I didn't reset my data would be compromised by who know who before Dell resets the computer. At least that's how I felt.
When we purchased the computer we contacted the people where we bought the computer and my wife whined about Outlook and the guy on the other end of the phone loaded it remotely for her. I wrote down the prod. code thinking in case I wanted to reload Outlook 2016 I needed to have the code. When I tried to reload MS Office the website would allow me to progress to completion. When I contacted Microsoft they said the code had expired.

You must have been given a time-limited code for that MS Office - like a 'trial' licence - which is common on brand new systems sold by Dell and others. There's no way you get Office for free for any other time period.
If the only issue was the battery adapter that was bad advice from Dell.

I don't know how that works. We have had MS Office 2016 for a little over 2 years so I don't know how the code expires and how it affects Office. All I know he remotely downloaded it onto our computer and as I mentioned we have had it for quite a while now.
So all I can say is "WAY".

If Microsoft themselves tell you that Product Key expired, then it was a time-limited trial. Paid for MS Office licences are never time-limited and they can be put usually on more than one system. MS Office 2016 was only released at the end of September 2015 - no earlier.

So my time line is off, no big deal. Are you saying I am lying about this whole thing - what's the point. I came here for help.
Someone came to my wife's rescue when she was down and helped her out.
Computer geeks can do anything to anyone's computer and I am here as a testament to that fact.

I wonder if you may have tried the wrong iso/cd for that office re-instalation-
If you had the Home and Student version, and the iso/cd was for the Home and business version, or, Professional version -or, vice versa- that would make a difference, and might have made the re-installation void- Just a point, we ll miss the detail, at times.:(
