    I have a frustrating problem regarding wireless routers.

    I am a home user that has had to replace 3 routers in the last 4 years. Now I'm wondering whether the cable modem might be causing the problems I've had.

    I bought the highly recommended Cisco E1000 on April 4 of this year, and after only two months the same problems have started!

    The same problem..router loses connectivity with the internet, requiring unplugging waiting a minute an restarting. Are you finding this has been a common problem?

    I thought that buying an expensive router might help, but it hasn’t It appears that buying a cheap or expensive router makes no difference.

    Is it possible that the cable modem might be causing the routers to fail or needing to be reset?

    Any hands on experience or suggestions with this problem would be greatly appreciated!

    Have you looked at the log in the cable modem for any indications of a problem?

    Most cable modems are at http://192.168.100.1

    I'm not an expert, but;

    - Did you check the voltage were you're connecting your router?
    - Did you connected the routers in the same place everytime?
    - Have you any high, bad voltage connection closer to the modem or router?

    Tests

    • The problem could be some of energy connection, try to check it with a tester, or just extend cable to other different connection in your house. (Do it with the modem and the router)

    • You can also use directly connect through the modem (without router) and see if the problem persist.

    • Btw, i guess you're connecting router to the modem through cable, is it working propierly? did you checked with another cable?
    I don't think is your router, but who knows some people have bad luck.

    Tell us what happened!!

    I can tell you from experience it very well may be the modem itself. I swapped my cable modem out for the same exact type of modem(cable company claimed it was the best kind of modem) but after that failed for the third time, I requested a different brand of modem altogether. Low and behold I haven't had more flawless internet with my "sub-par" modem.
