I am going to post my setup first:

OS: Windows 7 Ultimate x64 (Completely Updated)
    ISP: Comcast Cable
    Modem: Motorola SURFboard 5101
    Router: Linksys WRT300N (Latest Firmware)
Range Extender: Linksys WRE54G (Latest Firmware)

Question: I can browse the internet and do everything I need to do online, ONLY in Internet Explorer 64-bit. NO 32-bit apps will successfully use the net at all.

*I can ping any and everything under the sun.
    *Absolutely nothing wrong with DNS.
*I've tried resetting the WinSock (netsh winsock reset), as well as all the other logical WinSock resets in Command Prompt.
*I've browsed multiple forums, to no avail.
*I've ran complete system scans with Avira and AVG, both Premium versions.

I have ran out of options. I've been working on PC's now for over 11 years, and I am stumped. It's not the first time, but I'm just clueless. Please help.
    :confused:cry

    Hi

What 32bit applications are not working on the internet ok?

I see you have two Antivirus applications and this can cause very weird issues and times as well as PC sluggishness, so best to remove one of them if both are installed and live scanning, rule of thumb is only use one AV and one Firewall.

Do you have a Software Firewall and if so what one? disable it to see what applications cannot connect to the internet.

But as AVG and Avira are native 32bit apps with 64bit support over native 64bit, then if they are updating you should theoretically be ok,.

As you mention IE8 64bit, is it that you cannot get Adobe Flash and maybe some other addons to work? if so then Adobe Flash is not yet 64bit browser compatible and also are some add-ons like toolbars etc, to use these you will have to run the 32bit version of IE supplied in Windows 7.

1st) Google Chrome, IE 32-bit, Bittorrent, Firefox... ALL 32-bit internet-using-at-all apps

2nd) I've been running this same exact setup for a long time, and this problem arose last night.

3rd) Yes I have a software firewall, ZoneAlarm. Disabling or shutting it down doesn't make a difference.

    4th) Anti-virus apps can't update.

5th) I'm not worried about Flash at all. I just need the 32-bit apps to start working again.

I don't even use IE at all, I was just trying to see if I could narrow it down to x86 or x64. It seems to be x86.

BTW, I keep a **constant** watchful eye on my posts, so I'm more than likely to answer fairly quickly until I get this problem straightened out.
