32 Bit Recording

I have Audacity and I know how to set the FREQ. you want to Record at.

But it has for Bit Rate 16 Bit 24 Bit 32 Bit.

And yes I know how all this works.
CD Audio is 44.1 kHz at 16 Bit Stereo.

But Audacity calls the 32 Bit in the List 32 Bit Float.

What is this?

 

I use 24 bit when available, save as FLAC or WAV as needed.
This page seems to give the best explanation for myself.
I don't do much recording these days and recall only using 24 bit on a Linux box.
