    Hi

In terms of processing power, how much of a difference does a 64bit system make compared to a 32bit system. I'm aware of the Ram advantages of 64bit, but I'm more interested in how much it improves processing power.

To be more specific, I'm keen to know the advantages of Win 7 64bit compared to Win 7 32bit on an Intel Core i5-3570k (3.4ghz) with video processing in mind (I'm aware I'll need to use 64bit applications).

Also, will 32bit applications gain any advantage running on a 64bit system.

    Cheers

I'm wondering if the answer could be linked to computing floating point number accuracy ?
Something your use-case is likely to need in abundance.

Computing any cryptography maybe too ?

Pretty conclusive really. Have to check how much of my software has 64bit versions available.

    Thanks for the replies.
