Thanks to all Geeks for all the great info about flashing the bios and using a 7200 RPM HDD. I really thought that flashing the BIOS turned my 533MHz into a 733MHz processor, don't know if one doesn't ask, right?
Now I have another queston. I have just seen on ebay socket 370 processors, running @ 1000MHz @ 1 gig. I have only 192MB of SDRAM and if one of you Geeks think that adding the remaining RAM up to 256MB will make a difference I will add it There were numerous other CPUs also: 700MHz, 800, 433... The one I have is a 533MHz.
Can I use one of these to speed up my machine. If it is a 370 socket mobo
will all 370 socket processors work? I believe I will install XP. I want to know
when I install a second HDD can I just install the XP on it and still keep
98 on the original HDD. A duel OS? That would be great. I have works
on the 98 OS with spreadsheet and all the little extras that I do not have on this XP pro. I guess because I had gotten it from school the OS didn't come
with a program like word and powerpoint... just wordpad. I would like to keep the works on my machine and XP as a second OS. If these CPUs are not compatible is it worth overclocking the Celeron I have now? I will invest in
a cooling fan for my new 40 or 80 GB 7200 HDD and a cooling unit for my new or overclocked CPU. Again thanks to all. bluesteinm
