When I first got my computer about a year ago I was excited and tested it right away on 3D Mark, I remember scoring in the 5000's

Now today I tested and go under 3000!

I've overclocked EVERYTHING like mad and was finally able to get it to 3084 but I don't understand how I could lose so much power.

I'm using an AMD Athlon 64 3000+, 1GB Corsair Ram, Radeon 9800 Pro 256 with windows XP Pro installed (yes it's legit)

What are some of the main causes of a system slowly dying?

Did you test with the same version of 3D mark ?

Yes, I was also thinking that bu I remember it was 05 because Fileplanet had advertised it.

    3000 in 05 with a 9800pro sounds about right, I can't imagine that card scoring 5000.
    I score under ~3400 with a overclocked 6600gt in 05.
    But I could be wrong.

    I don't score 5000 w/ an X800Pro and a 3800+.

~3000-ish sounds about right to me, too.

I looked it up, my highest score is 3682 in 05, when overclocked, stock is 3400, it's just that it's been so long since I have ran it, I forgot ( I looked it up online)
