hey guys, I finally get to come back online after being without a PC for a wee bit, don't laugh but I am using an old AMD Duron 950mhz for my PC, better than nothing I guess, anyway, Hi again.

I got a little query though, whats this 3DTV, is it all it is cracked up to be, my only gripe about it without having actually seen it myself personally, I have only seen the harvey norman ads for it on TV, but do you have to wear those big 3D Glasses everytime you watch TV? is it a 3D TV, but have the option to view it also normally so you don't need the glasses? it all has me a little confused.

Anyway, if someone could please fill me in that would be great.

    Cheers,

    David

Hi again Exox3!! I went to a local electronics store last week and watched one of those 3D TVs and, personally, I wasn't impressed. Sure, it was pretty cool for the small amount of time I watched it, but I can't picture myself watching it at home with those big, akward glasses! Granted, when the man switched it back to regular HD TV the picture was really good running @1080p. The one I watched was a 42" Phillips and goes for $8,999.00!! However, Sony is releasing their 3D TVs in June and a 60" will go for around $6,400.00! So, one of the problems I can see, other than the price, is the fact that there really isn't any true 3D media for them yet. The guy also mentioned that if you want the full effect of the 3D 'experience' it would be best to run it through a 7:1 surround sound system. I won't even discuss the price of a good 7:1 surround sound system:cry

WOW, that is one hefty price tag, to be honest I didn't have a clue on the prices of them, but if their that high I won't be getting one at all for the price alone, the wearing of the big 3D Glasses has me boggled, who in their right mind would sit their all the time and put the glasses on, that would frustrate me the no end.

At the moment I can get a 46" LG Plasma 1080p HDTV from the good guys for $999 AUD, so I am just waiting for the LCD version to come down to about that same price range then I`ll get myself one, as I am still using an old 52cm Teac CRT TV with S-Video.

From what you said I gather the 3D TV is backwards compatible, so you can turn the 3D Feature off, but at that price range you better of with a standard 1080p HD Plasma/LCD TV 46", prices have come down considerably!

Anyone here actually have one, or any other opinions on these 3D HDTV's?

Anyway, cheers and thanks in advance.

My only other query, is the MHz rating, the 50Hz, 100Hz, 200Hz, what is that all about, is the higher the better, and what exactly does that do? is it the refresh rate or something?

    Thanks,

    Dave
