3TB HDD as external drive??

    Hi
    If I have an internal 3TB HDD my desktop has to make 2 partitions on it to be able to use all of the drive space.

    If I use 3TB HDD as external drive connected to USB would it show full capacity all on one partition??

    Not without a third party partition manager. XP doesn't support GPT, needed for partitions above 2TB.

    Does that mean if I had a third party partition manager then 3TB external drive connected to USB would it show full capacity all on one partition??

    If yes what third party partition manager should I get?

    Hi

    had a quick speed read of Easeus as I like their software and this could a tool for other questions, but while it works for GPT and 2-4TB drives, it does not work for GPT on a 32bit Windows

    And it might not for XP, where the OS has no support for it. Paragon makes drivers for these things so... (I use their ntfs driver to write to NTFS drives in OS X).

    Good point though, it might only be for 64 bit Windows there too.

    Yeah, not read their manual yet. I agree with you on Paragon though as there good paid software may do the job. This is where XP is showing its age in relation to new technologies and hardware.
