412 Error

i get "412 error" in my DLer (4K) for certain URLs. most recently, a pretty straightforward addy for an mp3 which DLs just fine IN THE BROWSER (edge). yet punch it into 4K and u get "412 error".

what's the deal? i read that this is a defense against spammers or bots or something, and perhaps intentional on the host's part. but why then does my BROWSER see it no problem?

how do i fix this? is it a matter of turning DOWN some security setting or something in 4K, or is the onus on the host's side?

is this related to deep linking? in the past i recall certain links that u cudn't access unless u did it top down on the host's site itself. altho, in that case, browser wouldn't display them either -- it's the discrepancy betw browser and DLer here which has me puzzled.

The 412 (Precondition Failed) status code indicates that one or more
   conditions given in the request header fields evaluated to false when
   tested on the server.  This response code allows the client to place
   preconditions on the current resource state (its current
   representations and metadata) and, thus, prevent the request method
   from being applied if the target resource is in an unexpected state.

The 4K application is adding or not to its HTTP request header pre-conditions in order to perform the download, e.g., if the item for download has been modified since last download, and so on. The 4K application is probably over-managing the download request, which a browser does not necessarily do. In addition the Browser will be using cookies such as those that contain site-login that 4K may not necessarily use or have access.
