I just clicked over 10,000 :-D It used to be a lot easier to offer advice when I joined. Membership was less than 10,000 back in Jan 2004 when I joined. Now with over 187,000 MG members, advice is usually fortjhcoming from them before I even get a chance to reply. Just as well, they answer on a lot of areas / subjects that I am not really conversant with. ;)

I think the questions are also getting more advanced as members become more experienced in using their PC's.

I am new here... & Yet... I see what you mean... I just wished that some places can remember that some of us are more experienced in the techy stuff than others!!

(I just hate it when I call the satellite company to get help with my defective DVR that after explaining to them... I KNOW WHAT you want... Listen to me... Don't keep treating me like someone who doesn't know!!)

Oh, sorry... just a little rant about an experience I had a week or so ago.

What I was going to say was.... It amazes me how advanced I seem... I still have a lot to learn!! ;) :cool

I know exactly what you mean,LH.
A member of Circuit City's (may they rest in unpeace) Geek Squad tried to sell me a SATA drive for my machine when I Specifically told him that my machine was IDE.
Told me it would work. Even after I showed him that the drive he was trying so hard to sell didn't have an IDE data connection, he tried to push a SATA data cable on me.
Then when I told him that my machine doesn't have a SATA plug-in, he suggested an upgrade from my old "dinosaur" machine.Tried to get me interested in a new desktop with Vista(of all things, the Premium version.)
Finally having enough, I opened up with all guns on him with other customers all around.
Told him that I had only wanted an IDE hard drive and NOT a new machine. If he doesn't know IDE from SATA, he had better go back to school and learn some more.
Told him what he could do with the new machine he was pushing, and offeredto shove it there if he couldn't do it himself.
Wasn't being too quiet during that period and I saw several people walk out with empty hands while this was going on.
Banned from the store, which was no big deal.

Oh to have been a fly on the wall there... or even one of them customers standing near by... :boxing :tas :duck

I bet some had to pick their jaws up before they got stepped on.

You only saw the short version here. There it was all HD and the volume was cranked.
Not suitable for all ages is the wording being used.
Poor guy was probably sorry that he tried that tactic.I can understand sales commissions, and agree with it most times, but not when they try to question my needs and insult my "baby". Dinosaur. Indeed.

What gets me is some sales people do NOT know when to give up. The best ones are the ones who do!!!

Thanks for making it a PG version :clap

Oh, harlow2, that must have been a site.:-D... Customer service should be #1.......

I, too, just love it when I go into town wearing jeans and a T (it was a MG T too!) and well, I was in a furniture store, looking for a recliner... NOT one person came over and asked me if they could help me, or what was I even looking for, or anything.. rolleyes

You know, I have been in that store many times, however, not dressed in jeans and a T-shirt.. That really does bother me tho. It shouldn't matter how ya dress, as long as it is clean and respectful.. Mine was, but they certainly didn't make a sale, either... Obviously, they were not interested in one either.... Too much yapping on what happened on Saturday night, from what I could hear....

Yeah, I took my business elsewhere, where I am appriciated... How some places stay open, is beyond me.. Sure, I got my recliner, but from a place that didn't look down at me. Heck, my $$ spends anywhere "I" want it too.... It's not like there is only one store in town.. Far from it..:-D
