    Ok heres the deal.
I have a new AMD Phenom ][ Quadcore 3.0 Ghz, Radeon 4870 HD 1gig liquid cooled GPU, with an MSI DKA790GX motherboard.
For the first 3 months i owned this computer, i ran it with XP Pro 32 bit. with absolutely ZERO problems. I found a deal online for Vista 64bit home premium, including a free update to Windows 7 when it is released in October for $124, and I also expanded the RAM to 8 gigs.
Now, The XP Pro 32bit with 4 gigs of RAM (although it would only recognize 3.25 gigs) ran MUCH faster than my current setup of Vista 64bit with 8 gigs RAM .
My real problem is this, Firefox now gets hung up after i visit several web pages.
I have to go into task manager to kill the firefox process (which doesnt always work) and sometimes i have to restart the whole system before i can browse the web again, Not only is this very inconvenient, but also annoying as all heck .
I love Firefox, and hate to leave it, but if there is a browser designed to run specifically on Vista 64bit systems that some of you have tried and found to be reliable, i would much appreciate knowing about it . I am currently working TONS of hours, so I dont really have the time to do much research on this subject. If anyone has any advice on this subject, i would greatly appreciate it !
    Thanks for reading this !

I am using Google Chrome with my vista 64. I use IE sometimes too, but I rally like Chrome so far. I like the bookmark tabs on the top of the screen.
Sorry I can't help with firefox. Have you tried reinstall? Good luck

    Hi

Remove any addons you have and then uninstall Firefox and then run CCleaner to clean your temps and registry up then re-install Firefox 3.5.1 (latest version) and run it without any addons and see how it goes, then add one addon at a time as one of them maybe the cause.

or if you are like me try out the pre-beta of the next version of Firefox codenamed Minefield, I find it works really good in x64 Windows Vista and Windows 7 x64

Do note if you like websites with Flash video, is that Adobe Flash does not like 64bit browsers as Adobe have not released a 64bit version of their Flash plugin yet! so you have to fallback to a 32bit browser to view flash content.

Sadly Firefox dont have a Windows 64bit version yet AFAIK, there are a few ports to 64bit that other 3rd parties have done on Firefox, but I have not used them.

Minefield sounds very interesting, ive already downloaded that and will give it a try. Ive already got Firefox 3.5.1, that's the one im having problems with . I actually dont like flash video, because they are largely used for advertisements, and I don't care for You Tube .
I only use adblock plus and the filterset G updater with the Firefox.

im trying minefield, and using the newest IE as well .
They all stop working after a fairly short period of time, and have to be restarted.
Seriously i think i may just reinstall XP Pro 32 bit and wait until windows 7 comes out. Im getting really sick of all these problems - i had absolutely ZERO problems with XP .

i cant get browsers to work. They will work for a few minutes, then freeze up, disappear from the task bar, and stay on the task manager processes list where they take anywhere from 3-5 minutes to end after i click "end process" . In the meantime, i am unable to browse the internet, and after the process has finally ended , i can no longer browse the internet until i restart the system. Vista is complete garbage, and i am now going to re-install XP and use that problem-free until windows 7 comes out, at which time i will see why THAT doesnt work properly . LOL
    thanks for your attention .
I HATE Vista, i have had nothing but problems with on it the 2 machines i have, and will never try it again .
XP PRO, HERE I COME TO STAY !!

Wait a minute, i just downloaded OPERA and it seems to be working well without crashing, now if i can only find an adblocker for OPERA, id be happy !

ok, so now ive got XP Pro 32 bit re-installed and everything is running smooth as glass.
I just dont understand why Vista blows so hard .
    I wasted my money .
Anybody want to buy an unused (unused as in not being used currently) legit copy of Vista 64bit ? lol
