64 bit IE yes, 32 bit no! ... but why???

Don't know if this problem belongs here or not, but let's give it a go:

lately, if I try to go on line using IE 32 bit I get the following message:


•Internet connectivity has been lost.
•The website is temporarily unavailable.
•The Domain Name Server (DNS) is not reachable.
•The Domain Name Server (DNS) does not have a listing for the website's domain.
•There might be a typing error in the address.
•If this is an HTTPS (secure) address, click Tools, click Internet Options, click Advanced, and check to be sure the SSL and TLS protocols are enabled under the security section.

this only occurs in 32 bit, 64 bit accesses the net with no difficulty; I have had a number of opinions expressed regarding how to fix this, but none of them have had any effect whatever. Trying to get a fresh perspective, I won't mention any of them.

Does anyone have any ideas, 64bit IE is like wading through fudge (or something).

Sorry I should have mentioned: windows 7 home premium

 

Try running the script on this page.

For 32bit IE on 64bit windows use ie8-rereg.32on64.zip
