    Hey guys and gals I was wondering what other 64-Bit users were using to keep their systems safe.

    I am currently using XP 64-bit and for my security I have found the following play nicely within this environment;

    CCleaner

    AdAware

    Spybot S & D

    Spyware Blaster

    Spyware Guard

    NOD32 for my AV

    but the biggest problem is to find decent firewalls, I currently use Outpost Firewall Pro 64 Bit but that is soon to expire and was wondering what others may be using....any help would be greatly appreciated.

    K just an update for any who may be interested. After trying the latest Agnitum Outpost Security Suite Pro 2008 (64-bit) on a free trial I found that it maybe generating a "LOT" of false positives and STOPPED my Internet traffic roughly every 10-15mins without any real explanation. I was not impressed with this app and found it a). confusing and b). frustrating as it was like I had been DC'd from the net and then when I went to uninstall this dismal app I couldn't find it using Your Uninstaller! 2006 so it has left crap in my registry and left me quite confused as to why it was discreted on my system (and yes was re-installed). IMO dont go thr with that crap.

    A bit of research and I came across this little gem;

    Comodo Firewall 3.0.10.238 Beta (64-bit version)

    http://www.nsanedown.com/?request=8135622

    Now being a Beta app it is not recommended for the inexperienced who cannot use 2-3 ways to restore their system if they have to. I am really impressed with this firewall and after having set it up on the "advanced settings" are finding it incredibly informative, user friendly (once u get it "trained") and an absolute pleasure to have on my system.

    But like I said only for those who can get themselves out of strife if and when they need to.

    P.S. all important data has been backed up on this system and it is primarily a gaming machine so therefore there is nothing CRUCIAL on here.

    I only ever use two programs on both XP and Vista, 32bit and 64bit.

    Symantec AntiVirus Corporate 10.2 and COMODO Firewall Pro 3.0.10 BETA. Where the beta firewall causes problems on XP I switch to version 2.4.

    The AV does an excellent job with both viruses and spyware and the firewall stops whatever spyware the AV can't detect before installation with a query popup. I have only ever had one instance of undetected spyware blocked by the firewall, all the others were picked up by SAV, and never ever any virus infections. It's been 1 1/2 years now.

    BE: Agreed, CFP is indeed a gem that few don't come across due to lack of advertising and popularity. All in all it's the best firewall I ever used, it's never caused app compatibility problems, once you learn to config it for P2P. I've never had app compatibility problems, failed portscan tests, resource hog, or net slowdowns/performance degradation of any sort. CFP 3's UI has a few bugs that cause crashes and I've had 2 cases of BSODs on XP machines but hey, it's beta. Switched to 2.4 and all was okay.

    I think the best thing about it is its feature-rich layout. Even if you accidentally allow a spyware to install on your machine and start wreaking havoc and you can't shut it down properly you can always go through the firewall's configurations and corner it, denying it rights to access net or interact with apps, folders, or change registry keys all this in real-time, and effectively contain it while you work out a way to remove it. I've made a preset for my firewall just for such situations, it's called "Deny All" and if I find a program to be dangerous I just go through the firewall's apps find it and switch it to that policy, the spyware only has the right to run in memory and do nothing else. LOL Excellent lockdown on the sucker. :)

    I use this little gem of a program look'n'stop from here http://www.looknstop.com/En/index2.htm .
    It's VERY small uses little resources, it compliments my SPI firewall in my router and does the job. I switched from comodo a while back after a few issues with comodo, I've had NO issues with look'n'stop. But as the others have said Comodo is the next best thing for me.

    XP, I know thr are older versions of ZoneAlarm which were 64-bit but unsure of there effectiveness in modern times; i.e. do they have updated signatures etc etc.

    Still here to many rumors of Vista being ultra buggy and XP is great for my needs.....let them sort out the bugs first.....;-)

    Only app I use, is ccleaner. Just to remove garbage.

    I don't use any software firewall, besides the built in vista firewall.
    I don't use any virus scanner or spyware scanner.

    So, in the end, using xp ultimate 64 bit...no problems as of yet....................
