    I have a new computer with AMD Athlon 64 X2 AM2 4200+ processor.
Currently I am running Windows XP Home and I do not intent to go to Vista before SP2 or maybe SP3 for Vista is out.
Is it worth the money to install the 64 bit version of XP?

Honestly, I don't think it's worth having an x64 system at all!

I've got Windows XP x64 installed at home, and while I haven't had any problems doing what I want with it, the perks of the 64-bit architecture aren't there. Most everything runs in 32bit mode (in fact, this adds ALOT of overhead to the system - there's ALOT of tweaking you can do to trim the system down)

Its obvious that XP x64 is just a hastily remade version of Windows Server 2003. (which had 64 bit support long before XP) Most apps recognize my system as running Windows 2K3. It even says it in the system properties. It's caused some grief installing programs. I've been able to get around using compatibility mode.

Now, this is just hearsay, but from what I can tell, the x64 versions of Vista are having similar difficulties.
