6600 gt problem

ive recently bought one of these for my machine having read the reveiws they seemed to be a good card for the price however my machine only has 4x agp slot and the card is 8x however the 6600gt comes with an extra power socket to get the extra power it needs when i first bought the card the whole pc was running great however a week or so down the line when playing games after about 15 mins or so into the game everything slows down any ideas ive tried various drivers with the latest being the best but ive still got the slow down problem

 

Post the rest of your specs m8,most importantly the power supply rating they are quite a power hungry card,read the side to see how many amps you have on the 12v

 

the power supply is iso-400pp its the standard one that came in the pc

im running xp home
2.4 p4
512 ram
the mb is foxconn 6514mr-es
6600gt 128

 

might wanna change a no name generic PSU for a name brand 400watter.

 

the power supply is 300w max output power

are we sure its not because the card is 8x and my mb is 4x before i go changing any bits?

 

i cant find any mini atx power supplies 400 watt or more

 

If your mobo only supports 4x agp then that's your problem right there.

Put simply, your card is working at half the speed of what it should be.

 

thing is though its been working fine for the past week or so

 

i havnt overclocked the card and i dont think its a temp problem as ive had the side of the case off all day my card is the 6600gt 8x and my board is 4x so im not sure what it is

i seem to have sorted out the problem i adjusted the hardware settings to a lower setting and it seems to have worked touch wood

 

Yes I am using the 6600GT!!!
I had somewhat of the same problem where I had to adjust the hardware acceleration of the video card.
I tried the MSI for and updated their listed driver and I still had the same problem!

I went to the Nvidia and downloaded a much later driver and now I do not have any problems. All OK!!! [Driver I used = 8.1.9.5 dated 11/11/2005]

Firstly did/have you checked for the latest driver?
Suggest you go to this = Web Site = for your VGA [Graphics] Nvidia Driver Updates. A very easy site to naviagate

Will insert the Installation Info from the site for you which you must follow!!!

Driver Installation Hints
1. "Download Accelerator" utilities should be disabled when downloading any drivers.
2. Do not run virus protection software in the background while installing the drivers. This prevents the driver from configuring itself properly.
3. Before installing new drivers make sure you uninstall all NVIDIA display drivers from the Windows Control Panel. Browse to the Start Menu > Windows Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs and search for "NVIDIA Windows Display Drivers" or "NVIDIA Display Drivers" and select remove.
