okay so i bought and installed my new 600W Thermaltake PSU and i installed my new geforce 7900 gs (new one i was sent by EVGA when i sent out the one i burned for having insuffucient power supply)

what i was doing was, checking through the video card menu and saw the "monitor temperatures , which said i needed to download Ntune or something like that, so i googled around and looked for a good temp monitoring program, and i stumbled upon a nvida forums topic where people stated it was better to get Rivatuner instead of Ntune ,so i followed the guilde and set three profiles to set fan speed to 100% if temp passed 65 C , 80% if it goes past 55 C , and 60% if its past 55 , and to shutdown pc if it passed 82 C ( didnt know the actual Temp the card could take)

so my problem is i was playing WoW again (like last time), and my card settings (on desktop and all that , were at quality (how it was when i installed) , but i set my game ones to max (figuring as how it says my setup is way past those required of WoW ) , and what happened after several hours was my pc Shut off twice, and after the 2nd shutdown i left it off and let it cool for the night, and havent used it since .

    my questions are :

any idea if my card may be overheating again?

does anyone know the burnout temperature this card can handle?

did i choose a bad PSU , and or would it be a good idea to return it and get a better one?

also a friend on wow reccomended putting some arctic silver or something on the videocard chip and put the heatsink back on , saying that some manufacturers use cheap glue and it wears off after couple months ( note , i havent done this and dont know if i should since im not going with taking things apart)

thanks in advance any help is appreciated.

P.S : think my gpu idle temp was around 53-56C and while playing WoW 60-66ish C (not sure if it went past that when it shutdown but mightve been)

Initially I thought your card was overheating, but when you posted that it was running at less than 66c, the only thing I can think of is the possibility that the program your using isn't entirely compatible with your card, which may be why ntune is recommended? Maybe you should give ntune a shot? Anyway, sorry I couldnt' be more help, good luck!

yea it was running at low temps below 65 (60+ is only on games) and yea the program said something about "not compatible with your driver" , so im gonna uninstall that and install Ntune and see how that goes, thanks, do you think that might fix it?

any ideas? someone on rivatuner forums told me it sounds like my card died, but i told them it doesnt smell like burn or have physical signs of burns on it, plus when i connect it the fan goes on and everything, the only problem is the "no input signal"

hi, have you got PC doctor for windows, if so run a check on your card, it will let you no of any errors, ie memory, direct draw etc,

can i check that even if i dont connect the monitor to the video card?

ok so i got it to work, now the problem i get now is every couple minutes i get "no input signal" once again, what i did to get the card to work was go into the bios and change video display to "PCI-E" as it was at PCI before,

edit : i ran pc doctor test on my card and it passes all the tests / including on stress tests, also my pc hasnt turned off since i connected the power adapter that was included with the card / left side of the case open, not sure if that has anything to do with it but ill keep updated

sigh, i read the whole thread to the bottom to finally discover the issue is with a pci-e card. would be helpful to state that right off the bat. i'm tryin to collect info on 7900gs agp, as its probably one of the most abandoned cards ive read about.
