8 year old guitar Prodigy

Can he play or what

 

That's some mighty sloppy playing. I give him -5 on a scale of 1 to 10

 

Not all that bad for a little guy. At that age, the hand and fingers are not as long as they would be when he is teenager. If he continues to practice and study music he will do well. I got my first guitar when I was 10 years old and it was a clasical guitar. It wasn't till I was fourteen that I got an electric guitar and then I could start playing.

 

NOW I understand why the music of my era drove the old man nutz. IMHO, I have to agree with what he said..."That ain't music, it's just noise". I've been playing since I was six or seven years old, but probably could not have done as well as this kid at 8. Assuming of course that in this day and age that is considered music. hmmm..

 

I give my opinion and now I stink?

 

I thought the kid could move pretty well on the frett.. put some VanHalen in there but it was nothing more than a mash of solo's .. but for 8 years old..I thought that was pretty damned good.

 

kid made a lot of mistakes (true)
but at that age he certainly deserves to get a little recognition
He will be famous someday if he keeps it up.

Must take into account his age

 

I can not play a guitar, trid many time... Can play smoke on the water the bad way.... So, this kid is very impressive to me.

 

Gotta give the kid credit for going on stage and trying, hats off for that. But to me it was just mindless wanking. There was no structure whatsoever. It seemed like he was just pulling out some tricks and trying to play them as fast as he could without making them flow together well. And I'm not tryint to compare him with EVH or any other guitarist for that matter. That's just how I saw it. With some training and some time, I agree the kid could be a monster. But for now, he's got some woodshedding to do.

 

Well, I gave the link to my boss (Who is a former Pro, played with many well known groups and is extremely awesome IMO) and he basicly said the exact same thing as BluesMan. He did say that somebody better get with that kid before he get to used to playing like that. Teach him how to play true chords.

If he can play one chord, that is one more than I can

I personally think this kid isnt all that good, in no means does he "suck", but he needs to learn technique and discipline.

Im only 16 and this kid is 3 years younger than me, and honestly i can say that i smoke this kid, and i probably would if he was my age, and if you dont believe me send me an email or somethiing and ill send you a video.

But props for the kid, the state of music nowadays is so bad anyway that its impressive

Point here,seems that he had only x amount of time to do his thing and when your under the cosh? He done better than me and ive been playing 20 odd years! Then again i`d smoke his Ass!
