8500 Gt? $50?

I found an 8500 GT for about $50.. and was wondering if this was a decent deal for a casual gamer... I haven't had internet in over a year... so I haven't really been able to keep up with the details of all the newest stuff..

I mostly just play some WoW, and BF2..

eMachines W3107... working on getting 2 GB of RAM here soon.

 

or would a ATI RADEON HD 2600 Pro be a better deal at $60?

 

or if a better suggestion running at or less than $130.. that'd be fine.

 

Would def not be bad for the games you specified, not sure if you wanna crank up settings to max but I am not a complete expert. I would SLI it and you would def have a decent set on hand. Comes to $56.24 after S&H at the site i checked it out at, if u found cheaper good on ya.

 

The 2600 would be a much better buy. It stomps all over the 8500GT. Check out the gpu charts over at tomshardware.com

With video cards (and pretty much all PC components) the more it costs, the better it is (usually). Prices have really dropped on video cards. You can get an NVidia 512mb 256bit GeForce 9600GT PCIe video card for under $130. It's an EXCELLENT card and it's unlikely that you'll find anything better in that price range. If your motherboard has SLI capability, you can always add a second card later if needed....

If you live in Canada, definitely check out NCIX.com. They have an e-VGA Geforce 8600GT 512MB for like thirty bucks.

I bought mine a few months ago at fifty bucks and it was only 256MB:mad
