8Gb USB unable to format shows 8Mb RAW

    Hi there I have a 8 Gig USB stick and I am unable to format or access the drive. When I look at it on a partition utility it shows just a "8MB Raw (Healthy Primary partition". What is going on? Any ideas anyone? I have tried this on several OS and several machines - all with the same result...

    Driving me nuts!!

    Open Control Panel, Administrative Tools, Computer Management then Disk Management.
    Right click the drive, select change drive letters and path, and assign a letter. Confirm the operation.
    Once this is done it will show up properly. From My Computer then you'll be able to access this drive again.

    Thanks but it already has a letter and shows up as a drive. The problem is that it only shows a partition of 8Mb RAW and I am unable to repartition or otherwise access the drive. I cannot format it either.

    Hate to say it, but you got ripped off is my guess, ebay purchase? Or was it in a legit package from a brick and mortar type store?

    It's a legit purchased and did work fine at one time.

    Oh ok, thats good, i see a lot of times people buy broken jump drives off ebay or whatnot, but your good then.
