Ok everybody, here's where I'm sitting. I buy a PS2 and everything is great. Time passes, Xbox comes out, but I stick with the PS2. More time passes, and the allure of *gasp* online play and Halo grabs hold of me. I trade in my PS2, buy the Xbox, and everything is great. PS2 starts coming out with some kick butt online games (Socom, NCAA, and the real clincher, FFXI). Meanwhile, I'm sitting here with my Halo, waiting for Halo 2 and an online rpg (True Fantasy Live Online), or at the very least Fable. But that's the problem, I'm waiting. Do I go back to the Playstation 2 and its new powerhouse MMORPG (FFXI), or blast some Covenant and Flood while waiting for bigger and better things? Is FFXI as good as its cracked up to be? Is it worth shelling out a c-note? Any input on any of these questions/points would be appreciated. thanks

I never trade in anything really unless the game is absolutely terrible. I would save up and try to get both xbox and ps2. PS2 is down to $150 now so then you can get the best of both worlds. There are awesome games out for both consoles so if you only get one or the other you are gonna miss out on something. Plus... HALO 2 is gonna be awesome, you will probably end up regretting it if you get rid of the xbox when it comes out.

I agree with rancid. You should just save up so you can have both. Besides... you rarely get a good deal on trade ins anyway.

Ok thanks. What about FFXI? Anybody played that, and if so, how good (or bad) is it?

I started playing about 2 weeks after FF11 it was out; and it took me about four months before i got bored of it. I mean dont get me wrong it has great game play features and stuff to get you going , like advanced jobs and special abilities. The only thing is when you want a new "job" you need to start from point 0 again, and you either choose one of three starting points, 1 of the 3 points is EXTREMELY far away and you cant travel between these points (cities) untill your beyond level 15-20~ or youll get whacked by every baddie out there. The game pays off when you get beyond level 40~ and you start to collect AF (aritifact) armor which is specific to your primary job and that you get every 10 or so levels beyond 40. There is also Race specific armor which is used at around level 30-40 but if you try to get it alone its nearly IMPOSSIBLE! I had to get to level 44 before i could get my armor pieces that i coulda used at level 25~ (yeah i know dumb) the only good part about that is that it brings in good cash. Cash is probably the hardest thing to come by in the game specially at later levels; you need to develop your artisan skills like fishing wood cutter etc...but that doesnt rack in money untill your VERY high level. Once your beyond level 40 a single piece of armor will burn about 50,000-500,000Gold depending on how rare it is. Hope this has helped. I think the WORSE part of the game is depending on people you dont know to form a group that will get XP. Alot of times you need a diverse group and any single person failing (or acting like an ass) will get your ENTIRE group killed which results in everyone loosing xp and bashing of the person that didnt do their job. Also if you plan to go Ranger/Ninja be prepared to have UBER DEEP pockets; the amount of arrorws/ninjitsu magic you use with those jobs is just INCREDIBLE.

    Hope the rant helps =)
