a cd issue.....

i dont realy know what i did but in the last month or so my cd is acting up...

ones in a while the cd is rebooting my comp when i put a disk in. the cd is kinda starting to read it but then it reboots...

A p4 machine with a 1.7ghz chip , 384 mgb or rdram , 845i mother board , and LG burner x40 x12 x40 , win xp home...

just keeps rebooting from time to time when i pop a cd in....

 

you could start by refreshing the drivers for the Rom drive and/or update the firmware to the next update...did this problem start happening when u installed something new or updated some hardware??

accualy it started after i istalled a friend h-drive that gave him problems. i put the "new" h-drive in made it a slave and it was fine. after i removed it the problem apeared.

now im pretty positive that the new/old/friends h-drive isnt the cause but maybe i disconected some wire or something.

i have a squered ,4 pinned, wire that goes from the power supply to nowhere for now, that im not sure that is supoused to be loose...

helpy.... ty...

 

i didnt ment the usual power suply cable that goes into hd's and cd's and stuff, i metn a squered 4 pinned cable...

my cd is an LG gce-8400b and there arent many sources for its driver.

i downloaded one from driver'sguide.com, but the file i downloaded is a .sys file (cdrom.sys) and i have no idea on how to open or install it....

 

still...
