I have never used a rewritable CD before. Do I have to formate the disk? I
Plan to backup some stuff. A mixture of wallpaper, text, etc.

Ummm, i think you have to "erase" them before you can use them... but you burn them just the same as any normal CD.

Erase only if you need to for more space.

I just bought a 5pack of CD RW's. I have Roxio easy creator. If I use the erase feature, is that the same as format?

I have never had to erase a CDRW before I could use it. You should be able to just burn away....Then again, I use nero so it might be different...Someone please correct me if i am wrong, but I have never had to erase mine before i used them....

Well I guess I'll just have to experiment.

In Roxio (I have version 5 - came with PC), you'll need to select the type of formatting you want - DirectCD for drag and drop of files or the DataCD project. In the DataCD project "format", after you've created that project and backups on the CD, you may need to erase the CD prior to backing up again.

If you're doing 'Packet Writing' (i.e. "drag & drop" files/folders), then erase first - software gives that option.

If just transferring some files, as with H.D. backup (i.e. regular multi-session disk), then not necessary.

I have a question, can I like a tape, keep adding info to the disk?. or do I erase each time, and start over?.....I'm working on a web page, from two computers. One at home, and the other at the art gallery.......wobbles

If you have recorded in mutisession and disk is open, then yes, provided there is enough room.
