A chance to nail a hacker?

    Hello,

I keep getting messages from someone on MSN messenger that has a link to a site that my virus control exposes as an extremely high-risk site. Stupidly, I forgot to copy this link before I blocked this person from contacting me but I nonetheless have an email address.

I responded to this person and they replied by saying that their account had been hacked. Does this sound likely? Would it be worth passing the email on to someone? And if so, who?

I would LOVE the chance to nail a hacker or anyone associated with malware etc. There's nothing I would like more than to find scum like this but I suspect they're well protected. Any advice?

P.S. Sorry if this is in the wrong thread. I didn't know where it fit in.

You were not hurt and the person is either telling you the truth or can not be traced. 999 times out of 1000 (and it should only happen to you a few times to never) the person can not be caught and\or is overseas. Be careful online, use common sense and don't waste your time.

    Hi

I totally agree with the above comments and would just add if you want to do something constructive report them for abuse to MSN and have their account banned from the network (while they can always start again, in some cases Microsoft will report the user to their ISP)

Thanks folks! I suspected as much (not being able to 'get them'). It's just that I hate virus and malware scum almost as much as terrorists.

@ Halo - I'd like to do that (report them) but I have no idea how I go about doing it. We all know that customer service from MS is practically non-existent so I guessed there wouldn't be any way of doing it or that you had to wade through about 99 FAQs in order to say "no, that doesn't apply to me" and then have the privelege of using a tickbox or something.

    Hi

This maybe more direct route, options from the Windows Live Teams blog HERE dont know what the response will be as never used this option, but give them all the details you can and who knows.
