I went to see that tapestry on a school trip to france when I was about 10. I bought a book with the entire tapestry on it, it opens out, my mum has it on her bedroom wall, its like a border around the room.

Its hard to beleive its size unless you see it. Its enormous! And hundreds of poor women stitched it all by hand!

 

Great bit of tapestry - seen it before and impressed with the amount and type of work done on it. Those who worked on it were the talented predecessors to our modern day "geeks"!

Unfortunately, that skill is rare nowadays. Mum and her family were big on making their own tapestries which are family heirlooms now.
