    I have two quick questions.

1.) I remember hearing Vista records the motherboard it was originally installed on. So my question is what part of the motherboard does Vista record? Is it the motherboard's chipset, BIOS, or the whole thing? I ask because I want to upgrade my CPU and want to see my options.

2.) Is there anyway to keep notepad from skipping to the top of the page everytime I use replace all? It's a real annoyance.

    1) it doesn't really record the motherboard; what it does is create checksum or hash (or some other technical word) that is generated based on several hardware variables: it grabs info from the hard drive, video card, CPU, motherboard, and probably other components too. If too many of these variables are changed at once, or a major one is changed, or if individual pieces are gradually changed over time, the OS says "hey- this is an entirely different PC, time to re-activate". Swapping a CPU shouldn't set this off or cause any software issues whatsoever. I have upgraded MANY processors in MANY systems and NEVER had a forced re-activation from a CPU upgrade.

    2) maybe start a different thread for this question? I have no idea. :-o

I don't know if this will remedy your problem, but this is a Much better
program than MS Notepad. It's fast, its stable and has options that
you won't find in MS Notepad.
