A Curious Case of Restarts Due to Windows Media Player

Essentially, my computer restarts after WMP finishes a video. Every time. If I stop the video before completion or move on to the next one, it will not. A half-second after a video finishes, my computer just crashes and restarts. The screen goes dark and windows is just starting up. My computer denies that there are any problems. I've done virus scans with no results. WMP does music just fine. I would appreciate some advice or maybe just a simple, 'you're ****ed.' or, 'what the hell are you talking about, that doesn't happen.' because it doesn't make sense to me either. i hate windows.
i'm using windows 2000 (5.00.2195). WMP version is 9.00.00.2980. somebody please tell me it's the devil

 

do you not get any error reports, or have you checked event viewer under admin tools in control panel
