A disk read error has occurred

    I have looked around and not found anything that has helped, so here goes. I am getting a "a disk read error has occurred press ctrl+alt+del to restart"

    I was having no issues with my computer. This error occurred after I put in a new graphics card (The card works fine as I have run it in another computer and tried putting in old card. Error still occurs). The only thing I did was swap the cards. I did not touch anything else, so I don't think it is a cable issue although I made sure these we are connected well.

    I have tried using the Windows 7 Install disk to repair. No luck. I went into the BIOS and the drives are being recognized there. I have two Hitachi drives in Raid-0 which is where the OS is installed. I have an additional Samsung HD.

    When I am in the Windows 7 booted from CD-ROM it sees the drives. If I run chkdsk from the cmd line it checks the Samsung. I thought I would try to install to the Samsung to get me up and running with an operation OS, but will not let me install. Can't install to the Hitachi either even though it is listed.

    I am definitely a rookie at this stuff, so any help would be appreciated.

    Weird when all you have changed is a GFX card, did you uninstall the GFX driver before isntalling the new card (even if it was from same maker nVidia or ATi)?

    Can you boot to Safe Mode (F8 at boot) and the PC boots ok?
    I would unhook the Samsung drive if its not the main bootable HDD and then reset CMOS (BIOS) to defaults (with PC off take out the motherboard battery for 10mins or so, then replace) then reset the boot order and the fact that you are using SATA RAID, then see if PC works, then if ok hook up the Samsung HDD and re-install the GFX card drivers.

    To clean uninstal the GFX drivers follow the below
